How do I apply?

If you are considering whether Vanguard Christian School is a fit for your family, it is our desire to provide more than just a list of steps for you to take in order to apply.  At the onset, we want to ensure that you develop a clear sense of who we are and what we stand for.

We also want to get to know you and your child and make your admissions experience personal, thorough, and as pleasant as possible.

  • STEP 1:  Attend an Interest Meeting

  • We ask that parents attend an interest meeting before applying.  These meetings will be held in McComb, MS and last about 1 hour. During these meetings, you will learn more about the University-Model of schooling and the Vanguard difference.

  • Interest meetings will be held in the spring for the 2026-2027 school year.

  • STEP 2:  Complete a Student Application

  • If, after reviewing the school material and praying about their decision, parents are still interested in sending their child(ren) to Vanguard, they should complete the application and return it to the school office.

  • With the application, parents are to supply:

    • copies of any school grade reports and/or achievement testing (within the last two years);

    • a letter of recommendation from the child’s previous principal (if applicable);

    • 2 references which will be contacted (1 of which is their current pastor or Sunday School teacher).

  • STEP 3:  Placement Testing

  • In order to place students in the appropriate grade, individual assessments will be administered.

  • There is a $75 per student assessment fee due on the day of testing. This fee is non-refundable.

  • A kindergarten readiness assessment will be given to kindergarteners (students turning 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2026).

  • Students in 1st - 5th grades will complete grade appropriate reading and math assessments.

  • STEP 4: Family Interview

  • This family meeting is an important component of the admissions process.

  • We ask that both parents and the child(ren) for which you are applying attend this meeting. Other siblings are also welcome to attend.

  • Prior to the start of the evaluation, our leadership will conduct the portion of the family interview that requires the presence of the child(ren).  The parents will be interviewed separately while the evaluation is being conducted.

  • Please allow 30 minutes in total to meet with the administration.

  • STEP 5: Notification of Administration Decision

  • Once all records, references and fees have been submitted and interviews and testing completed, then the admissions panel will prayerfully consider placement at Vanguard Christian School from a spiritual, academic and social perspective and will notify the family in a timely manner.

  • If the class is already full, you will be given the opportunity to be placed on the waiting list.
